• Wrong or perhaps??

  

   

  while i was revising my literal friday night into saturday, followed by so vitriolic poetry too passionate to become concrete….. i decided to listen to music.  why does pulling the wrong rabbit out of the hat come up?  I listened to the following

  buddy rich memorial concert / neil peart

  buddy rich vs neil peart (do not try to tell me buddy sucks…damn he’s fun to listen to….neil is a rock god…he is but rich is a drum god.)

  buddy rich west side story

  pat metheny solo?

   

  recently, i looked up to see if ever there was a public response to mr metheny’s criticism of a mr g about necromancing on the past master’s hits… there really isn’t one.  style of a sort really to not respond needlessly.  then I find a guitar solo by mr metheny that is pure jazz… it’s so jazz i don’t get it. please insert your jazz critics below

  and as i’m listening to this electrified guitar solo – please note in complete unfairness how i selected this piece over pat playing on Joni Mitchell… and because i’m not a jazz-a-holic , I’m going to say i do not like it…and then keep talking.

  I listen to this guitar that sounds like a synthesized badly horn and think of mr G…. you know smooth jazz death?  oh no it’s worse than that… it’s pat metheny playing mock saxephone on an electric guitar…with technical wizzardry and artistic brilliance that sounds like a fifth grader noodling his sax solo could make the guitar master forever give up hope mimicking a horn on a guitar.

  please understand jazz like any music has a world of it’s own and standards too.  smooth jazz is not jazz but smooth jazz… or jazz-y  obviously Jazzy sells and Jazz folks get their corner to rhapsodize about technical brilliance and sip better adult beverages than everyone else. thus for me to say I dislike something jazzy is only an opinion.  opinions are like insert the “A-bomb” everyone has one and they all stink….but some sell better than others…now insert your version of porn music…which is? jazzy and funky.

  pat metheny still not impressing me but this is far better than the new shite

   

  Now, please note the intensity and technical precision by what is played… you’ve no hope in hell of saying pat metheny is not a far better as a musician with his instrument than kenny g is with his…  I picked and unfair comparison in live off time G to metheny….but personally i’d rather listen to g and ignore metheny exists.  it’s just opinion and or preference or a tragic  proof i have whack tastes in music.
