Beyond The Pale.
I’m just back from the porch to my secondary zen mancave after an enjoyable night sans booze. I was enjoying a less complex version of tomato beer. This is in honour of a whim – a whim to see if by some miracle pile of bullshit that what o.p.o. other people’s opinions that my fine nights of beeer are the sin to beat all sins and the only reason I feel less than allstar after it.
recipe:
can of busch NA
tomato juice ala market pantry
fresh ground pepper
hotsauce …just a drop or two.large glass tomato pepper and sauciness then slowly pour in beer. stir
consume

Why did I buy not piss-water in a can like 3.2% beer? I mean what IS the point of non-alcoholic beer – it’s really just NON BEER?
Because I like malty things and was curious as to whether it’s a far too often in my life drinkie-poo YOU”RE KILLING YOUSELF howl or is it something else that makes it hard to get moving in the morning?first off. it ain’t half bad the booze-less van gogh minus the raw egg. or a tomato beer. it doesn’t need the pepper which annoyingly can float on the foamy bubbles for a bit. it’s an odd feeling heavy as in full without also needing a nap . and! don’t you just love run on sentences?… heh
AND don’t you just sense that i stayed up just a hair longer with those carbs as non alcoholic beer has calories and carbs as does the juice ala tomato with the added zing of sodium in juice and hot sauce to monitor.second. I woke just as chipper / no go power as always. alcohol consumption solved not one demon of my morning. I felt not one stitch better I got just as many carbs if not slightly more . nothing whatever changed.
wannnnnh. so back to a wave of booze? no. I bought the round of na beer to see if it doesn’t lead to another round of na beer. the blessing after is not so much to quit drinking as it has no immediate value one way or another just later pluses, but to not want five beers a sitting. or some equally hyperbolic exaggeration of my evening. Okay I may never be a one and done fellow but 3 or 4 beers needn’t happen 2 is sufficient. how do you get to this place? this place of “restraint” don’t drink you dummy! that is the purpose of the experiment if as i expected my sins are consumption of carbs related still not consumption of alcohol.
this said; welcome to doggy days of summer…. get your red eyes on….even if they’re beyond the pale like mine.

I’m sure there are many greater sins but I think people worry for your health… That’s what people do. And I can’t tell if the experiment was a success or failure… ? So plenty of carbs and sodium and stuff to worry about but none of the buzzed effects of beer. Do you know if I get really tired I can’t stop giggling. Isn’t that the same thing? peace & smiles
@peacenow - the check is in progress one day isn’t enough of one. 3 is the check. at barist minimum. a week is okay and ten days is the liklelihood . the why is quite frankly I don’t remember how long it takes me to begin resetting my enzymes . but I want there to be a serious shortfall in it by the tenth of october which is when it’s showtime for sugar control. but about time for my cholesterol checkpoint.. interestingly enough I have more reason to focus further out as it seems i have a shot to get after meeting traveling and what not. not just waiting forever for something anything.. this naturally comes with more whim to actually try everything like loger term health improvement schemes. home improvement and ofthe actual spending cash and seeking something memorable. and there you have it. its all cool as in not cool if I drink or smoke or yada but a bit of style is this new work adventure. I end up paying for it either way.
If I’m gonna do it, I’m gonna do it. Bloody Mary all the way.
@sleekpunk - so you are a vodka gal? probably safer in this sense: vodka red or 80 proof is 80 ca;proes [er 44ml -ish shot and 100 calories per blue or 100 proof shot. tomato juice at 8 oz is about 50 calories per serving or get a twelve ounce glass and a bit of garnish and you’ve a wicked livation at 130 – 150 calories a glass. using even na beer the emiric data is 95 calories for 8 oz roughly but you use 4 oz juice versus 8 oz for 25 calories or 120 ish calories per 12 full oz glass. … now while this sounds good calories wise remember the hinderance of tomoto juice isn’t that it isn’t a juice or tastes good but the amount of salt required to deal with making it taste good. interestingly vodka to me requires just a bit more of salt to adjust taste it doesn’t have to be hot sauce but just salt salt which now leaves room foor higher sodium content…but oi vey does it taste so good. beer vs vodka and beer will always losein bartender wars…. until of course the beer is so much more expensive than the vodka and then now you’ve the point if you’re going to get a drink price is a factor yes but ultimately one is paying for the taste so i’d posit that calorically and otherwise one is better served going bloody mary ….except…pardon me I think you may have notice I haven’t consumed alcohol over two nights it’s ticking into the third.. you COULD have cut me some slack LOL
Beyond the pale lie the tanned and the burned.
Your drink sounds a lot like a mechilada.
In Colombia they drink refajo: beer mixed with a soft drink (usually Colombiana, a sort of cream soda) or juice. I love it with cranberry or grapefruit.
@starmanjones - I know nothing about the workings of my body – enzymes, sugar count, cholesterol, etc… much less how long it takes to reset anything. Of course this likely means I’ll kill over dead from all these things being bad before I hit 60 or some such.
@Roadkill_Spatula - laziza is the alcohol free version of that if one means softdrink
I occassionally get a jimex peach or apricot nectar for beer reserving the strawberry for fakeo instant margaritas.
@peacenow - doubt it. you avoid a lot of things that bug you that others find not so bad.
@starmanjones - You’re right. Even the low sodium V8 is high in sodium, but you can make a good tomato juice super low in sodium with horse radish, worcester sauce, a dash of vinegar (or Louisiana hot sauce), add a celery stalk (for added salt), and voila. Oh, vodka is optional, but if you’re gonna do it, well. It’s a nice brunch. And congrats. By now it’ 5 days for you? For me it’s something like since my anniversary 3 months ago on which I had butter beer and a Guinness. Yum.
@sleekpunk - nah waffled on committment because I clearly acheived my goal with out alcohol is no health savings
I loves Tomato and V-8 juice!
My hugs might knock you on your butt, but not because of the alcohol content!
I’m having a busy weekend…but I wanted to stop by and leave you some non-alcoholic hugs!
Non-Alcoholic HUGS!!!
@adamswomanback - that experiment is over: results… the only thing I gain from na living is a more leaden belly from na beer. my sugar suppression is not “better” it’s worse, and I don’t sleep as much- the only caviot is that i do sleep “better” …if I can. so about all that remains of value to chase and don’t get me wrong I will try – is less overall alcohol consumption because lets just say I can have all the beer i want or booze but if I continue on that plan I wont be rising to any occasion. - so blunt as it is thanks for the na hugs. I’m done experimenting as I have my results but I’m not done buying more na beer… I might get a dealcoholized wine too.
or in other words the big gains aren’t available but there are some perks to giving good effort and behaviour too a go.
