I don’t know about you but there are times when i can NOT consciously think of a reason to buy soy crumbles in the overprices vegetarian section of the supermarket and then go gah i’d love to share this but like beaty stew it’s ruined in 3 days can not really transport unless frozen how much is dry ice? holly crap it’d cost me a hund bucks to send a purposefully inexpensive recipe no freeking way!!!  well josh researches stuff too- I’ve known about this as every one has that you can get dehydrated food like for camping for eon eons! since the space programs of superpowers before i was even born put ment on the moon and gave them tang and freeze dried icecream too all the comforts of home hundreds of thousand of miles away. trust me, I grew up knowing my cup of noodles soups was freeze dried vegetables and sauce/stock packet…boulion and I ate it with glee.  but how often do you buy mre’s  or rations at the wholly jblasphemy expense they are so what yay they store 2 years- I’m glad but they aren’t the same as a steak and fresh steaming baked potatoe fully dressed up in sour cream chives and butter with a zip of peper and more salt… they just arent..but shhh your head I know that you know that but I want to try something wholly vegetarian and possibly to be made up as a mix  easy instruction and sent to the joy  of people wwho think well it sounds tasty but I ain’t going to all that effort unless it’s in front of me.  ding no dry ice no bs save one problem this product being soy and from a big agribusiness- um what do you think it’s chances are of being non-gmo are?  shhh I’m worried adm archer daniels midland.  the poduct nutrisoy or tvp textured vegetable protein because this stuff is dehydrated

this other stuff otherwise available is not

veggie crumble- as I said Its obvious as the day is long…great time of year for me to say that as our sunshine in the norther hemispher is  not so much :D  but the 24 is the 25 hours so shhhh…. but the point is this above stuff cost about 4 bucks out here where I can avoid spending five dollars on any ingredient?  I will

tvp like the above first phot is 3.2 a ten oz box/bag- you use maybe 3 oz of it in a recipe not wholly meat- as it rehydrate

meatless crumbles like morning star brand meal starters? six times the price buy comparison and come refridgerated so like uh? if I sent this dish out? it’s packed in dry ice  boo for simple can’t share the world’s over

now does anyone know how to get hold of textured vegetable…soy…protein that is NOT genetically modified?  no offense I know soy  is a carrier of homoes all the ones we in america blame on fat ass lazy people eating at mcdonalds and or wretched places/diets for when this stuff flat out begs to give you the estrogen/progesterone ..as duh people that’s what soy has in it hormone analogues we as human process to make the hormones we use a lot easier… but gmo is some how scarry weird idfferent as it is registered poison and who needs a belly ache each meal?  it isn’t irritable bowel people its more likely specific foods you eat each and every day tjat are not what you grew up with but gmo now… food changed in the eighties anyone notice some prices went down?  or stayed the same?  my personal opinion mind you but I’m feeling fickle

I am curious if anyone knows where to find tvp in beef or sausage flavor hell chicken or bacon for that matter that is promising to be non-genetically modified food?  not to mention organic…I mean if it literally doesn’t say non’gmo’ it is gmo  funny how you’d think it’d be the other way around they’d say warning gmo…but someone lobbied hard to poison us…monsanto.

    well-

while we’re on the subject dehydrate sour cream do I just have to swip a packet from a stroganoff box or does anyone know a source on that?

thirdly rehydrating dried peppers is easy but does anyone know a source where they’re already platicized for me? i.e. customs around the world are fickle about stuff not in origional packaging.  yes I know I can myself cacuum sel but um, that’s NOT original packaging.  I can get together a simple print run on paperboard to make me a nifty box for the gift I have advertizer friends of friends  which leave only to get original packaging for spices easy as all get out and a food operation to seal rice lentil crumbles spices tortillas  into verified date into a 2 week on corn unless I believe foil seals paper to have aa include simple two canse of olive and peppers as garnice packet sorry and cheese powder just steal amy’s  brand’s mac cheese :D and voila- it’s processed yes  but not gmo and all orginal now that’d be neat- now trip to the store just follow insturction and voila! tasty dinner- oh while we’re at it one of those non poison recyclable trays you can put on your own baking sheet and put it to bake in the over voila pretty as the picture on the box :) that’s what’s I mean- can it be healthy enough shelf stable for transport and also registered  so that without spending 20 million dollars you can put your hand to something I make?

for that matter me put my hand to it? :D

hint in a way I’ll end up with something like this: not exantly this but the base is similar…

Starlite Cuisine Meatless Soy Chicken Style Gluten-Free Taquitos (Frozen - 1 Unit)

I’d be looking more for somthing like?

but that …now imagine with me.. look more like?

but you get the idea… something that you might have heard of – but is yet altegether just a bit different :D

  • Nice profile! I should show you something scary and let you see a photo of me sitting at the breakfast table where the newspaper with the headline: Our First Moon … (the rest cut out of the frame); July sumpin, 19(ahem, grumble-grumble-muffle) sat. The enchiladas! By the way, what do you think of the waxy skin on cucumbers? I just ate some but I’m wondering. Also, in the produce section of my market, you can find the soy sausage junk. And careful on the GMO thing, it might be ok, it’s just that we don’t know because they don’t allow open long term studies on the stuff (last I checked). Also, it’s weird they’re not labeled. And of course, there’s insulin. Like Presidents, we have to choose the lesser of two or so evils. Sadly. By the way, LOVE the profile photo!!

  • I like those meal starters but the sodium levels in them are way too high to actually be considered healthy

  • i don’t mind those dry soup powder packet things either… ya know which one is really good? Lipton (i think it’s Lipton) Cream of Chicken… i lived on that in college (well, that and Cheetos and soda)

  • @sleekpeek - it’s neat to know that I’m never likely going to forget the date my sister took that picture.  wednesday august tenth evening.  you may remember 3 quarter photo dump wherein the party photos  one show i enjoyed playing with lighter fluid  after this picture…far too much  to the laughter of the people inside…nervouse laughter… which of course brings up i believe joshy discovers electricity sitting in a roo i belive 89 or 90 office thingum as i didn’t then participate in holiday songs for religious then convictions and had to much fun turning on and off the lightswitch ;) and that was the joke what’s he doing? I dunno maybe he’s discovered electricity. ahar har jhar ba da boop0omph!  eyewear of course courtesy of seedsower  :) made me day plus needed a different picture :D   time marching on and that :D   -  I as you see essentially solve my own problem after half the blog, it’s amazingly difficult to get a lot of blue corn tortilla enchilada pictures they’re not that uncommon   j blasphemy!  so this means I’ll be not looking for soy crumbles persay but really enjoyint the tbp hunt ort amazon thing. brown rice is for the birds as far as I’m concern so jasmine rice with if I can get it- red cargo rice which had a very pronounce shrimp like flavor but is far too off putting to be all red rice i’ll deciede  but ;0 if i’m fzux cooking a vegetarian affair I remember that from other years and will make use of it- the black rice is a kick too but I forget what it tasted like I didn’t have to buy 10 pounds of it.  orange lentile dirty white and red rice  I might rotel the dange stuff all the way spanish style since it appears thats what this dish is for taste brown lentil lentils with a decided indian preparation …the chili… if you look up this white poppy seed potato chili’s thing of india you under what I refer to very tasty but I’m spacing names something aloo. but yeah i can find the soy- i think for a shot at cost reduction sorta I’ll give finding tvp a shot that means with strict budgeting I can com in  no it seems under 8 dollars if i try and that is magic fudge dish to feed four and i’m golden then if I like it find a way to simple pack it as aproduct kit meal for the joy of a project I may never ever do- I have videos to do this month :D
    happy new year.
@godfatherofgreenbay - prett common occurance… I was told once I need to consider turkey bacon because ” cholesterol”  I look up that pork is ldl or bad cholesterol yah yah i’m easily duped the I find out there is vldl which is chicken /fo w . product fats/cholesterol  thought nothing of it then do a blog on the three component of aspartame again chicken / fo w l comes up with the methylsomething alineamine whaddever remember that and then i get to the store and finally read what turkey bacon is…the same sodium if not higher and the same cholesterol but it is far leaner in calory count…less overall fat ..ay..but in truth the factors we’re told to avoid salt and cholesterol are unchange and of a class of cholesterols that’s ultimately worse?  I quit caring about the diferences of turkey bacon being healthier it was simply a different product and not bad one either in taste that is and also my over the stove microwave nice to have i feel special and all that- but it dies after three minutes ish not enough time garunteed for microwave popcorn yet regular thin slice pork bacon and definently thick slice pork bacon are? far too much to get crisp nuking the stuff yet I can get turkeybacon crisp in that time enough for two huge normal people sandwiches blt’s  i still consider turkey bacon in its own right of a product it’s useful to me and tastes good.  makes a heckuvahbase for later cooking diced chicken with the crumbled bacon to drown in a pool of cheese for potato skins too you weren’t a big reader i think of me then might have missed my house warm of twothousandten post on that too :D . no big :D
@Peridot21 - the cream of chicken cup of soup single serve packets it always took two and oyster cracker are indeed this very side but only just of heaven  they are lipton   those tea people :) i thought it odd though the first time I had a creamy chicken flavored ramen I threw a one hitter – that crap to the trash! yuck w0 years or more later I tollerate it but I don’t adore it.  but to this day there is something special about liptons cup of soup creamy chicken :D

  • you are the biggest foodie E.V.E.R!  There’s got to be a way you could get rich off of this love of yours.  I’ve had those crumbles, I like them. I mean, they’re OK. OMG those blue corn things at the end looks so friggin good! Happy New Year again, my friend!

  • @DivaJyoti - abeaming smile not brought on by beeam either! happy new years cheers! the kind with bubbles but apple raspberry…perhaps pear? :D   you’d laugh as in front of me is a time capsule thing i saved for a trip itenerary in 2002 february… every single place i researched to visit it was delis along my way colorado to conneticut to nc home  ahhhh didn’t hit a single one snaps fingers …if you really want to be brave- you’ve time because I’m an hour ish ahead and I HAVE time- pick up cream, seltzer and juice but not a citrus one and make italian sodas to sip on to ring inyour year juice for the sweet cream and bubbles otherwise obvious over ice look horrendous put in a non opaque class ug! but mmm to sip on.

  • @starmanjones - maybe tomorrow, I’m not going out on amateur night!  Those drunk people who don’t normally drink can be very dangerous!

  • @DivaJyoti - pro drunken driving? ….;) chuckle but i hear ya. but i do have to go out and that is because better to get the dog out than the stain.

  • I wish I had more time shop to cook for the new year gathering. Everything turned out pretty blah.. my sister even helped with the apple crumble (which turned out slightly burned…hahaha).

  • @I_love_Xenga - perfect milli vanilli moment if ever there wasnt one – just blame it on the RAIN :D

  •          Happy New Year…Smile

  • @m_elmer_48 - :) ‘s hny right on back

  • josh, you are a culinary wonder.  every time I come by, I wish I could, or had the wherewithal, to cook such meals.

have a very happy new and delicious and healty-eating new year!

  • @plantinthewindow - orage lentil enchiladas?… with tvp  okay that’s pricier but lets pay attention to a busted gourmet detail orange lentils are 3 a pound at the whole foods markarket otherwise known as “whole paycheck”  tvp while inexpesive at 3.2  a ten oz. bag..that’s cheap considering it’s like 3 pounds of ground meat… but don’t reglect the detail here now-LIKE is fine it may work but the detail is 3.2 is a special order with six bucks ish shipping or oops that complaint about six bucks for crumbles becomes ding! the value again…. or f trying to be vegetarian – sometimes i purposefully try a dish for that like november oh eight’s tamarind sauce for sweet and sour nothing cost me 8 bucks to feed four people it was nothing more than hushpuppies type fry bread puff, deepfried non dressed begetables that turn a beautiful bright color cooked that way and BAM! fancy bottom tamarind demigloss which it technically wass is not more than a bottle of mexican aisle cheap juaritos brand i think tamarind soda which i can and you can outdo even that with a can of jumex tamarind nectar for 70 cents or less versus maybe double for the soda- oinion other basics of sauce pardon the recipe aint in hand.. and drizzle said sauce over frybbread and vegetables “chowed” *fried and you’ve sweet and sour NOTHING.. believe me it often costs me a monstrous fortune to invent or trial run but later no recipe hits this page without cost and value noted in my mind or directly :)   you can quiz me you know ;) I can turn 2 bucks a day into gold and still love life  or give you a reason to chuckle that oh oops i made psychedelic lentil for my own christmas oh seven… you should take my word for it- allspice and pink peppercorns do NOT mix for a please taste but just a weird psycho active one…trust me you’d swear you were drugged if you ever do.:D    I get my stories in ;)   some work, some not.  or, let me surprise you sometimes what I can share for you.  rich or poor I am NOT rich just single ;) unencumbered so I can amuse myself but i never forget life has changes in store for us and our priorities..  so join me for busted gourmet- i believe we can enjoy a coffee where in try this, gladware with lid but still shake over sink it still leakes.. now… just add milk sugars  you know swipe the packets at the seven eleven if you have to and perhaps invest in a cinamon tea to put a bag over the coffee brewing and now make it stronger now- shake the devil into the milk so sweet now you’d puke if you had to drink it but you’re mixing it with a LOT of coffee so it must have sweet- yes yes i drink my coffee black most often– but do this and now you’ve a surprise in store for you- the most inexpensive coffee in the world CRAP you’d never otherwise buy or be grateful to have is very much NOT bitter when brewed with spicy black or green teas just one bag for six cups ish and if you immmmmmmmediately toss the ground the instant you see the last drip your coffee last to be reheated again… now pour foaming milk into the coffee and voila! you’ve a fancy pantsy latte …courtesy of the busted gourmet.  enjoy yourself… we’re all in this together.

  • Dude, now I’m hungry!
