Factuals
1 inch rise/elevation : to 12 inches length/slope = equals a safe enough manual chair egress ramp.
every 25-30 ft of rise is a good place to take a break from hauling up a ramp or let one’s hands cool off from braking a decent.
the mandatory point of accommodations is 33 1/2 inches width – to allow egress of a wheelchair…not all chairs but this is the point.
fire codes require IN MANY areas, two escape points from any bedroom. ask yourself if a window does a wheelchair bound soul any good.
without moldings….TRIM… many doors or windows are just plain tacky. ask yourself is 4 inches MORE is worth it to achieve good looks.
the most import concept of a modern space is NOT to feel cramped/claustrophobic. ask yourself if minimum doesn’t feel just that way…cramped.
thus without covering turning or turning 180º around, we have the minim to go forward or backwards and enter through doorways.
-
to be comfortable most people sitting like to recline somewhat thus take up more volume than being straight up and down or sitting ramrod straight.
thus while not fully horizontal, a 6 soot patch long might be a reasonable forward and backward point and 35 inches wide plus 2 enches each side for mouldings is reasonable to assume for area
building is so much easier with easy math I dont want 39 calculations! yuck, 40 is more stand oh good I have half an inch of room each side of wal material to make the space
to turn fully around though? 35 plus 6 feet cling is 9 feet roughlyagain 10 feet to not feel cramped….
-
so to make sure one can turn around in any room ten square foot is required free space. – not freedom but comfortable egress. 40 inch unfinished width hallways are also a bare minimum of comfortable egress.every 25-30 ft there must be a ten square foot area so as to turn around complete and comfortably. as well as simply rest from trying to climb or descend.. It is pointless to have a 2windows as escape-ways so doors….this coupled with a passive as in manual ramp for any sort of elevation changes is a requirement. this is incidentally almost double of the lateral requirements of non-wheelchair bound people in a hallway and 1- times as clumsy a requirement within a roo…okay over 3 times as a 4 foot square space is more than adequate to turn on ones heals and 18 inches space is require to navigate between object sides or again half 3 feet. However if a wheel chair bound person NEEDS space this is one thing non wheelchair bound people simple breath out in relief not to be shoehorned in.
13.5 ft on way is 54′ in mattress..a comfy cozy snuggle next to a partner, two night tables or sides of matress to get a chair to 40 inches
mouldings 2 @ 2 inch so or 142 inches butadd 26 inches as such is one space 40 is the min so the new minim wall is 14 feet. length of a bed 84 inches ooops plus 120 more to turn fully around or 18. well lets toss in a bit of symetry long ago agreed upon – the golden mean or the golden ratio… 1:1.68 so the smaller wall must be 14 feet 168 inch equal the one so 168 x 1.68 (228+ easy math now! 228/12 is 23.5 feet. so a simple bedchamber is 14 x 23.5 or 329 square feet we’veno storage, no bathroom, no food noliving/diningnooffice/exercise no pet space/ nada do you get the feeling designing wheelchair spacefriendly is very large?-
this is of course all in aid of living space Ideas I wish to draw up a bit more closer to realistic scales…not sketched ideas but real spaces with a chance they can execute….you know into paper ideas to real mama mias.
let it not be said I don’t understand some simple basic concepts required by law, by necessity, by desire. look for more later
oh you can officially convict me of thinking

so many figures and rules. I am confused. But sure bigger one is more comfortable, I like windows too. It let natural light comes in. You know I love sunshine. Sadly, Hong Kong has limited land. Space is luxuary here.
Ok you made my poor old foggy brain try to work…I like windows I love sunshine as much as my Kitty cats
@MichellelyNg - aha! thank you for bringing up that major point of reality!
for instance, I can have additional material or building costs offset if the place services a need in a community? helps with public space to non profit/community programs, flat out rents office space in a mixed residencial/commercial situation, untold undiscovered as yet by me ways plethera *many to offset costs. while I think of my little designs I keep an idea about this stuff.
it brings up ways to ameliorate this to be of affordable - UfSA ike many nations has tax points to influence agreed upon social situations….cash for playing the right way
for instance, the neatest thing I saw was robotic parking, which allows a lot more space and far more secure parking for a large apartment complex lox okay not large actually small about 100 some living spaces ish. just enough of spaces to justify a convenience store which seeks neighborhood traffic, … location
but allowing more ammenities than I otherwise could afford to – I can conceive of enough ways to keep the place attractive for 50 years which is a short life of a “high rise” but they are far more expensive to build. plus would you like to be close to businesses you’d patronize? I would
@SisterMae - windows are fabulous and I adore them! however as a function-use to those who can not lift 10pounds or reach them… useless. some of the prettiest are those that are functionally beyond use to someone who can’t move a 200 pound element. so, finding ways that are within the capabilities of those who’d otherwise not be able to use let alone maintain their joys is a very good thing for me to think about- not to mention pretty french doors to get places
or something- it’s fun to make life possible and desireable. I happen to like windows I can sit in and read.
@starmanjones - hey, the confusion was not caused by you. Was me who is silly
thanks for the details again. Hope you are enjoying the weekend =)
skylights. love sky/star/night/windows. (have you seen those solar tubes? i know, too expensive, but, do they have to be?)
keep going, star builder/thinker. would be a wonderful addition if not The community.
@MichellelyNg - so far mmmmm.
@and_eager_for_more - yes, actually I have including the precursor of the bug eye colector and the fiber optic cable to the guy who’d otherwise get no sunlight. which brings of the spectrum of sunlightlight versus that of the cfl bulbing that I can get physically brighter than ambient sunshine yet still hae difficulties seeing in the room…nevermind the pink or whatever cast ugly look of some bulbs and yes this means I religiously love ge cfl sixt replace as they’re the yellowint cast but otherwise whitest lightest thus I get the cheapest best closest to sunlight at 14 watts a bulb. yeah, believe it or not while I’m a touch out of the loop light wise lately I still remember the lv halogen and what not lighting joys, know in my soul the split second delays for light versus incandescent. and this curious thing if I use one good incandescent bulb everyone leaves it on and nothing else and thus defeats the purpose of cost saving night lightling.. next as much as I like skylingt and those solar tubes I like the traditional idea of an air scoop too screening this feature to swiftly eaust a rooms air bit of heat… . I suppose I also mention I s see about taking a pool to a waterfall to see about how fast at pressures water filles a room and thus tied legs see if I can scoot float NOT DROWN escape out. I have the idea of why waste some of 80 feet of water tank for groing dinner shhoosh it love toasted unagi I think it’s possible to sort out the shrimpies too.. but heh thus is where I’m curious as hell- I know that I’d never be able to impress upon people that the thing they feer most is just better tested and prepared for – a burst window and now a need to evacuate and seel off /remediate the busted room hopeing like hell it can be done without having to put on safety gear to live. believe it or not this is that if I fall off a motorcycle at 55mph I’m dead with our without a helmet unless I slid and thats 20 fwoo feet of breaking every bone I have road rash. why where a helmet at this point road speeds are more often 85 or double the garunteed death.. – when the whole point of safety eq is to improve the chances you do have. who know, one might slam on the breaks for enough feet purposefully lay down the bike and while really hurt bad live to ride again another day…. but there is this point- if you have to wear safety equipment it’s nolonger safe and no home is a home with safety equipment on just in case mad terrorists or ex business partnetners suction cup james bond style you love of seafood to kill you by blowing a window 80 fee down knowing if it works right that 80 feet of chances to let you their probem float away… and yeah weird thing because above ground homes aren’t tonrnado proof drive shooting resistant… I mean please. but yet build a house again a big inland fishtank and fear for your lives!lol but that is yet again a home idea the under water home so I can have the seafood I like mussels, eel, shrimp perhaps a lobster or crab or too many although that soft shell crab sandwich at papadieuxs was tasty, clams ccalllops mmmm. just a few tonnes of seafood enough htat it’s self cycling yes that means I’d include a tuna or two because now thats a fishing experience perhap 43kph was it thats fast hell of a thing to hold onto
@Alysia Jack@facebook - lol- I’ll try to keep this in mind -thank you
@Sweetmilky Kumar@facebook - sounds like a good man.
