  • Points In No Particular Order

    • Intuition is spirituality – to me
    • in my history, I’m not encouraged to be intuitive
    • jw’s have a specific taste in this rationale

jw’s also have a distaste to college advancement as it questions
I disregarded the Smurfs being of Satan (cartoon blueberries aren’t of Satan)
I did worry that taking philosophy in college would steal away god

    College

    • I took philosophy in college and kept my god
    • The Harvard trained professor didn’t rattle that hard just anyone
    • I would have had a larger interest but guiding is what I’m after and he didn’t get on with me
    • The professor attended church and thus was not interested in explaining too deeply if he was atheistic/practical versus stupid

    atheism arrogance

    • I don’t care a fig if you worship rocks. tell me why & get me involved!
    • I do care when I cant be something because I’m a brainless twit of no value breathing in oxygen forever and always because I believe in a Judeo-Christian model set of faith.
    • faith the definition for instance has chanced from one based on “proof    (this one you have to scroll down to sectionbiblical faith and  relief and to it’s 3rd paragraph’s first sentence – biblical faith is baseduponadequate evidence.)- an educated guess to a pro atheistic silly ass blind hope….or gullible belief in what one is told to think. thus believing in god has no rational value hence the arrogant dismall of anyone not on one side or the other.

and to take in that line at the end….
    I’m careful
careful of those who laugh at faith
    the laughers of faith
because they may be right, but where the fuck does this leave me but only without faith
a blanket that comforts…not so much in saving heat or eliminating rain but a weight like a hand or a hug when it’s all tits up in life and reason only leads me to end mine.

yes, this isn’t particularly logical – but so the hell what :D   I’m comforted by knowing there is something better, feeling it, believing it, feeling there is some rational chance it’s true or soon enough will be.  this as opposed to a non magical life of wow that happened who cares.

  • People with spiritual faith and people without – all just people! I have spiritual ideas, working on the faith part :)

  • @BoulderChristina - lol, this is a response to why I got pissed off reading a book wherein  the second paragraph it relates that faith will evolve to a utopian belief that the universe is all there is …it isn’t supernatural… a “hope” of  compte the philosopher… the book, a gift of “the directory of possibilities” edited by colin wilson and john grant.  it  upset me to feel  lessened by my beliefs up front, it took 3 weeks to read past this insult lol.
now of course the fun part is you do not have to believe as I do lol.  I just have managed to stay grounded enough in this life to believe there is something better for the times the proof in front of me is less than encouraging :D .  I’m rather fond of this “fallacy”

  • @starmanjones - That’s is where we agree! There is something better out there, IMHO, I just don’t know what it is yet!

  • sounds like you need a peanut butter, bacon, and banana samich…
    in bedrock, twitch, twitch…

can’t say i have a spiritual realm that allies in any religion.  rather religion seems to attract a polarity that seeks to divide the believers with the nons…  and who’s right?  only for you to decide and pursue…

  • @BoulderChristina - I happen to think it’s magical ;)     as an expression goes, magic once explained ceases to be magic…  I like to be wowed.

  • @xplorrn - lol, that pbbb sammich sounds like it coould woorrrk :D .  I grew up but never remained a jw.  lol I’m free thus to find god in a pbbb.

  • @starmanjones - i know gogb has posted this – and i’m pretty sure i have as well – but http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_hkIN38qnY

  • it seems like my church is against every cartoon or children’s fad when it first becomes popular.  Pokemon?  Evolution.  Harry Potter?  Witchcraft.  DVD players?  Porn machines.  Computers?  Porn machines.  VCRs?  Porn machines.  American Girl dolls?  The radical idea that women are people.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - :) it must be pre conditioned to suport churchly …family….values :D ahh ahhh choice is allow if there isn’t any.

  • yay, you posted this :)  did you catch that the first section of my ‘children’ piece was sideways, or addendum to the faith thing? i.e. questioning the lenses that we grow up with. which obviously you have.

on book notes, does this mean i need to screen books, before sending? ;)  you know you can toss it, right? maybe over to distractedbyzombies :)

  • @Bels_Kaylar - @ + xanotherwise I don’t have @distractedbyzombies address info and I’m not done reading the book I finish chapter or part one woo :D
lord you can send me anything candy porn…corn well both are probably no nos for entirely different reasons.

  • @starmanjones -  what or who is this, josh-star “@ + xanotherwise” ?  i wasn’t saying you HAD to give up book, i meant if it displeased or was not worthy of your attention ;)  i am not even going google candyporn for fear of what will come up. i prefer nature’s version of all such, anyway ;)

  • @Bels_Kaylar - lol I was saying hash tags are done x way :D   I was being literal too :D overly literal  but I can’t do as you direct I don’t have the addie? (address)  and I slog through the occassional thing :D   I might learn something  like what the hell bicameral meant :D ;)   ooo fancy words to flog people with.

  • Why did you mention JWs? Is that your background?

I think intuition can be spiritual, but most of the time it’s a logic based on awareness that is not in forefront of consciousness. I might pick up on signals or bits of evidence without being consciously aware (and I’m not talking about anything supernatural, just things we don’t pay attention to directly), or I might see a path through a maze in a global sense without knowing how I got there. (I did geometry proofs that way in 10th grade.)

In a similar way, I’ve come to realize that my emotions tell me what I really believe.

Faith is only as good as the truth it is based on.

I haven’t seen any atheistic “proofs” that are convincing, nor have I met an atheist that I want to be like. I have met many, many people whose lives have changed for the better because of coming to faith in God, and I’ve experienced it myself.

  • @Roadkill_Spatula - yes, I remember  clearly opening a station wagon door to hear that there would be no more christmases.  I chose no longer to willing be part of the group around fourteen but mum had this you’re going grip til seventeen which curiously is alldad really enforced..perhaps it was a quieter empty house :D   but yes I was consciously a jw pretty much all kid hood.

I like any a person who has the strength to make atheismwork.  douglas adams of hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy doesn’t hurt my feelings for being atheistic during his life.  but you said people you’ve met and I didn’t get to meet mr adams.  as to met atheists – Iwould agree I’ve yet to get to know one that has the mechanisms I need to cope that are god free and not even a little mystical. I’m curious about one though.  the reason that I say the coping thing mostly is nearly every avowed atheist has been a substance of some kind user and that I also need no help in I need ore balance not more pot or some shite like that .

in any event it’s connection and my soul damnation to date not reservation is the lack of connection without god/intuition/magic…. spirituality.

  • @starmanjones - I wonder if CS Lewis had JWs in mind when he wrote about Narnia being “always winter, never Christmas” during the White Queen’s reign.
