pedestrians have the right of way with the exception of interstate highways. I used to remember carrying a white cane indicating I’m blind to add further deference to what this means. laws are being changed to reflect how if you leave the scene of the accident it’s punishable by up to six years in jail – the same punishment for being drunk and doing it.
seems to me you only need a car to mow down troublesome people. 6 years if they find you only because they had to try to say there is justice.

there was a pretty big pedestrian accident near me this weekend. A car hit something like 3 or 4 people. I think they are all in critical condition yet.
@godfatherofgreenbay - I’m not saying statistically there’ll never be accidents …sadly those will continue to rise. but there seems to be a lack of respect to what cars do…as if it’ll just be a bonus for you killing the pedestrian and an award limit if you don’t…and it’s acceptable for it to be considered your fault as a pedestrian for people not paying attention….and then too busy to take heat for it. *please remember I’ve learned that it’s coming down to who saw you do it… I’m blind and thus if they do not wish to cop to it, I’ve a problem if I live at all…and oh it’s understandable that they were “scared”
Those figures are amazing, up 48%! I think people forget they are operating a vehicle that weighs 3,000 pounds or more. I new someone who was killed in a hit and run…I don’t think they ever caught the guy. You have to wonder what goes through the mind of someone who knows they hit a person, and they never turn themselves in. How do you live with that?
@songoftheheart - I don’t know but increasingly more do. claim entire ignorance which might be legit and are oblivious. yet I have to cross streets. I’m annoyed people don’t think its important to pay attention. the new rule is assume they don’t see you and that there will be someone there every intersection.

Truth being what it is, your chances of gaining much will be little. Most people want to say they care a lot more than they actually do….. or it might be said caring has a time limit attached for too many people who are just too busy to bothered for long. You’ll hear phrases like “get on with your life”…… sad.

I think to the idea that eye witness incontrovertable video evidence must be given- time date inalterable, marker proof of distances if you say someone is speeding, …proof to thof said. it takes – fornothing to et e nines of a crime and then ? so? there is a shield in anonymity. but it does annoy me seeing people ignore all manner of reminders because life is supposed to be automatic. brainless and this is one result it takes bright clothing proper right of way with a light designated area and still someone on a phone looking for headlights or car colored impediments only will miss ya every time. watch for that that you only look for headlights.2. even a motorcyclist is a shock to spot. and 5 people can stand side by side along a back/front bumper. I’m amazed that it’s this way people know there’s not only cars out there. hence the term road hazzards.
@songoftheheart - lol as I can. it just annoys me heaily I can not drive and others abuse a privilage I cant have. I can drive just as shitty as half of the morons you see! lol
I’d better stay off the pedestrian lane on busy days.
