  • say denver vicksburg over and over fast

    http://www.denversrestaurants.info/www.denversrestaurants.info/images/large/DSCF7928-435x580.jpg

Denver Colorado.  with a little poking around, you can find for yourself a wealth of golden treasures..oh perhaps not aurum  Au as in physical elemental gold, but still, wealth none the same.  over this millenium bridge to the west is the platte river- such a typical wastral of a river- where a small section has been  done up for one to test out river fun stuff from an rei close by…. a spice shop harbors the exotics of the world, one can grab healthy food/drink for the picnic at a vitamin cottage market, get good sushi at sushi sasa, a great pot of tea at the english tea room or a pizza margarite in between.

go east of here and you walk in sight of the baseball stadium go rockies…this last year AWAY.  a lil further along past a brewpub or two and the train station.  and then?  the walking mall, 16th street.  16th street mall.  the early mall mall portions have a fine irish pub, a divine local coffee shop/dessert/deli upstairs, and a fine bistro… red square bistro…where you may possibly have yourself a pan seared duck breast in a cherry cognac reduction- it is that good even at 30 a plate on occassion.  one more brewpub almost and it’s up the street  to Sakura square and the pacific merchantile *pacificeastwest.com) for  all the rage in comicon candy or confectionary treats and perhaps a delightful beverage.  a coffee shop as a street or two gos by and one is at the fbi building and the lightrail .  why fbi? well it’s there. don’t commit any crimes!

various  other haunts are on this jaunt but mainly it’s just an ideal place to get to a rental car and drop some postcards.  hey mom’s I just ate an aligator’s tail at bayou bob’s!  hey dad I just took a bath in the platte – kayaking sucks…lotsa water.

from here the meander to another place begins.

i-70 into kansas is  pedal to the metal jam out to tunes !  or, dirt fucking boring flat kansas has shit nothing to offer  god? can we have a refund?…  no lol it is a bit tranquil if you want a word and please don’t snore and swerve off the road.. but we must! we’re going to?

    smoky hill vineyards

    kansas and wine- well?
due to an excess so it seems of meteeorites or wishing on shooting stars, kansas has taken up a grass roots campagne to get your sorry ass drunk as an appology for the majority of the states tranquil scenery just fucking perfect for grass fed beef where the hold time is so low the cows are grass fed from earth to the turf cuts prime on your plate cooked to order…. yeah I thoughts you’d start opening your eyes to why kansas can scare away the wrong kind of people…you want real tasty and good for you steak.  just admit it.

pictured are a nice porterhouse steak, red pepper *bell) and beef kebabs and czech white wine’s label from smokey hill vineyards kansas.

oops turn :D now you head down the centerline of kansas and watch. it’s cant get pretty

I’d picnik near here. providing it’s nowhere near shotgun land! ( cheyenne bottoms wildlife refuge, near great bend kansas)

    anyways were tolling down to

ponca city  (ok ) with this: the poncan theater

    http://ripstell.files.wordpress.com/2010/03/poncan-theatre-02.jpg?w=450&h=299

and then over to the great salt plain lake

the train gets us one city from my highlightable hunt for the place that helped ace me out of research and analysis  or college english …2.  this place woud be murphy’s place and whether or never…oh someone fire up the rose royce and let’s be wishin upon a star   the book was nigerian or pan west africa as cusine goes ;) and hows about this?

    http://www.ellensdoor.com/0_0_0_0_387_290_csupload_26134420.jpg?u=2762228863

surprisingly enough this dish above, egusi and fufu – ee goosey ;) smack! and foo foo or starchier than potatos mached so you can make a pancake to eat with… this dish is thickened with egusi which is a wild water melon seed and we mean the white ones :) no cyaniding your guests with the clycosidal sugar with  duh syanide in the midle.   pumpkin seed can sub but it’s just not the same.  anyways surprisingly there is some significance to cola being all fake in this country or nearly because yes it would be correct to have  a …oh blue sky cola is the only real cola extract using company of wide distribution.  it wouldn’t hurt to be authentic  ;) oh no never.  plus I want to taste my A.

the point though is to meander now down to?

galvaston tx. to board? yes, one of these

    http://www.treybailey.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/cruise-ship.jpg

to go from tx to la  as into new orleans’

    http://obama.net/wp-content/uploads/mardi-gras.jpg

    to trade boats to this

    http://www.ssqq.com/travel/images/mississippi_river_boat.jpg

    to?

vicksburg mississippi for  perhaps abed and breakfast?

    http://www.bnbfinder.com/innImages/Annabelle_Bed_and_Breakfast_Vicksburg_Mississippi_18688.jpg

to write one’s trip memoir..you know a tweet’s worth  or pulse. no one actually reads anymore.. but if it’s mississipi and duh the south?  what do you think the chances are of getting some of this?

  • I’ve made that I-70 trip many times. One of those trips we stopped at Lucas, KS, to see the Garden of Eden, full of fanciful concrete statues. It even has the creator’s body on display in the tomb he built for himself. It’s a Wonder of Kansas; it says so right on the website (http://www.garden-of-eden-lucas-kansas.com/index.htm).

I also visited Dodge City (http://www.destination360.com/north-america/us/kansas/dodge-city), much further south, where the local youth spent evenings dragging Main, just like in American Graffiti.

There was an amazing storm one year as we drove through Manhattan going west. After we got past it, we heard on the radio that tornadoes had been spotted near I-70. I have some wonderful pictures of the towering storm clouds taken from a few miles west of Manhattan.

One summer a friend and I finished up an InterVarsity Christian Fellowship leaders’ conference at Horn Creek Ranch by climbing Horn Peak. We left for Kansas at 3:00 p.m. As we drove through the night, our turns got shorter and shorter because of exhaustion. It’s a weird experience to be driving along, blink your eyes, and discover that you fell asleep for a few seconds and are now in another lane. We finally pulled into a rest stop and slept for an hour so we wouldn’t die.

I-70 in KS is all rolling hills, not much flat at all (the flat part is in eastern Colorado), and dry brown until you approach Topeka, where things suddenly become lush and green. The verdant surroundings continue the rest of the way to Lawrence and KC.

  • @Roadkill_Spatula - you get a prizefor delighting me with kansas and also putting the dig against flatness right back in my land :D   I too have done been driven through kansas a bunch of times.  the most interesting ism of modern life is  greyhound nowonly  does I-70 and all1-80 points are principally serviced  by going noth from terminal kansas missouri towns or south.  literally the website will take denver to ogalala nb and route me through to a kansas town and upto nebraska and back over.  it’s really weird.      it again was a delight totravel the corridor from dallas to okc and on a seperate removalfrom okc through south central kansas for thescenery  assome colorado person has this notion that there ain’t nottin’ inkansas ;) which even I know isn’t true.

  • I logged 124 hours on Trailways the summer of 1983 (Aspen to Lawrence to Chapel Hill to Miami) and swore never again, so I haven’t made any bus trips in the US in 29 years. That horrible smell of weird disinfectant, diesel exhaust, and smoke from the back seats (allowed back then) haunts me still.

Interesting that they quit using I-80. I guess they have to go where the money is.

  • @Roadkill_Spatula - restructing is more like it-x companies all partially or fully owned/vested in, divie the pies.  for instance autobuss americanos is owned by greyhound hence I’m not remotely surprised they do much of the i-25 runs  as such is the chihuahua circuit.  or jefferson lines gets the run from dallas to okc .  that kinda stuff.  lol

my horror bussings were a trailways into northcarolina where in the potty hadn’t been serviced…oi.  nothing like the smell of destrol (blue in toilet )and …well you know. for endless miles. a/c broke.  I missed the smoking era largely so I know and I don’t. I mean I had the most journeys via a small car and a smoking driver.and opening the window was either more unpleasantly wind in the face and MORE suctioning of the smoke my way or something horrid.  are we there yet? :D screaming baby in the night from mid pennsylvania tocleveland…poor feller had an ear ache – but he wasn’t the annoyance, the driver pissed off about it was…insert namecalling here

I suppose the key is conversation. and tactful sleeping.  it’s more fun to have interaction.  of course there are times I follow the shut up for 12 or bad things will occur policy. I watched plains trains and automobiles with steve martin and john candy.. I don’t want to be the singalong leader or the jerk who wont shut up from chicago to kansas or drive the car between two semis eek :D

  • Great pictures Josh. Hope you get to take some of these trips.

  • @ZSA_MD - the opening picture I have! lol – I live here!.  As for the otherparts/places, wish me patience and charm -they’re mean tto be a duo an dthat one will get here just not yet.
