  • Excursion A.E.

Interest in traveling with me has faded mainly due to timing.  I therefor have another IDEA.  Why not take the tour of a place that’s interested me for over a decade, CalEarth.

    Cal Earth is?

an institution for the realization of a home that is inexpensive DIY for your life.

    http://calearth.org/about/visiting.html

this link says I can visit the first Saturday each month for a free tour/potluck *or minimum donation.    however it is more than the cost to force a timely arrival ;) so it’s 40 clams for a reserved 90 minute tour.

how to get here?  Greyhound of course.  why? because this allows me to set foot in  not just Nevada but Las Vegas Nevada

  • Holy excrement, I was totally unaware that Khalili had died. Amethyst and I have dreamt of building a superadobe house for years, and thought it might be cool to attend one of his workshops. I guess he’s not doing them any more.

Las Vegas and California in one trip? Have fun! If I get my way I’ll never see either of those places again, but if you go I hope you enjoy it.

  • @HappierHeathen - oh lol, I’m not likely leaving the bus station as I’m not really interested in returning home broke… as for california, I have already been so the point is the tour. What I want to see is the thinner walls for the idea of a false wall squaring up the look some  which leads to a more traditional saleable look to western tastes, and the general beauty available.  and of course how to include thermal heat pump utility to the place…as that means one more thing off grid.  I suppose the only thing holding me is being stupid about investing in my own dreams…;)

  • I love bean bag chairs well at least I did now I couldn’t get out of one if I sat down in one

  • @SisterMae - :)  they’re fun.  I remember seeing the rompous room at the library as a room full of them and a perfect place to hang out…well if I was a touch shorter ;) I too have to muscle up the gumption to get upout of them now. :D

  • Pretty cool for 1000 clams. Now with my luck it would rain, so I’d have to throw in another week of expenditures.

  • That’s my kind of place.

  • @Kellsbella - considering I’dbe planning this and you just failed to knock on wood big huge jinx :P I will laugh at you

  • @sleekpunk - lets waddle and dab. :D
