I installed gourmet recipe manager for my linux box and this is how it organizes the information. rather nicely!

660 mg sodium

40mg chlstrl /~14% rda
27g protein (65g day ~42%)
not rechecking my math but I bet its 50% well wrong, nd I’m not sure the figures are double checked… I’ll look again another time…. suffice it to say I know it’s higher in sodium but it’s not no 1200 something a serving. thats a salt lick.)
or:
1/3 rda sodium watch it but its allowable
high protein
manageable fat for dieting
- would leave room for a naughty snackcaloric value is 130 which means this is part of a light lunch

oh and the math problem? nah you might not know but most of the salty cookingliquid isn’t used in the final product so, 3/4 of it is tossed…thus 2/3 of the sodium is lost to a drain. I am over estimating the salt above but that’s fine it’s still easy to let sodium get out of hand…. be carefull.

How’d I miss that application? I’ve been running Linux since forever (in Linux time) and have never seen it before. Thanks for calling it to my attention!
@HappierHeathen -
I just opened up my application window and within ubuntu 11.10 it’s a suggested possibility. I took the suggestion. I like how is cards my stuff far better than I thought to. I may invetigat. oh and my mesurements pissed me off so bad i got out a spoon and redid them – I’m a third heavy on my estimates…that’s ungodly more salt/sodium. something I’m actually careful about. You’ve watched justin wilson before? I always smiled when he sounded like he was wingin it with stuff and then he’d show you what he meant perfect to measure.
@starmanjones - I’m a Debian guy, don’t have those handy-holdy features. But I get more control, which is good because those Canonical bastards seem to think they know how my computer should work and they’re always freakin’ wrong. And I get more stability, too, because Debian doesn’t value churn the way its bastard offspring does. But now I’ve got the application, completely empty for the time being. No worries — I’ve got a bunch of plain old text files that ought to be easy enough to copy and paste in.
I wouldn’t know Justin Wilson if he was standing on my porch.
It’s all good, though. I don’t measure except when it really matters, like when mixing up some cake flour or baking powder. If it just kinda matters I dump the ingredient into my hand, which is calibrated to plus/minus a few percent. Otherwise, I dump what feels right and it always works out. There’s not need to do science when practicing art, ya know?
For Yule I’m getting a cool baking scale (My Weigh KD-8000) so I can be more scientifical like the big kids with my breads. I’m good to within about five percent just going by feel, but the scale might be quicker if it’s not more bother than it’s worth.
@HappierHeathen - oh lord, I’m surely tested an advanced “” computer user, I’ve even done a few years of low level or first round tech support *show me the answers KDB!
but I’m not joking, the first time I loaded ubuntu, 8.04 – it took 6 months to fix the front panel buttons and then load the complete suite of flash to run youtube. I’m not all that bright about computing.. I hope the bastards – even wrong – are closer to the power computing than I am alone!~
I have made muffins from scratch for years on end. I know 1 oz. flour is about what a muffin is… I know the size of a jiffy box’s 6 oz and thus know – like you, apparently, at least in muffin making how to scratch make it I’m thus going to warn you.
are you ready? you’ll make better notes owning a good scale.
you likely wont make better food – but, you’ll be that muchcloser to empire

much closer to being able to sell it legal beagle. it’s why I occasionally look up nutrition information …that and that damn diabetes makes me.
I need something like that instead of using word docs
@godfatherofgreenbay - :) we’ll be cooking then
