on getting passionate
okay, last blog is of my day as most may describe it- I went shopping and it was ooo oo a lot to carry, I came home and the bicycle fell on me wanh? this is anything but passionate – the cussing about the bike biting. the choice to be passionate is still there. Lets look at it?
I had a reason for visiting the Pacific Mercantile.. www.pacificeastwest.com in that I genuinely wanted a shot at asian food of MY hand. this trip was ghastly expensive in the grand scheme of things for what I have seemingly – or is it frugal? but first a run down IN Pictures- so you an see too
that is fairly lose to it’s atual size too. House spice – sesame / chili oil – for dumplings? ramens baby! you will not see this eat brand on the website which is a shhame beause more than any brand they list, this is what Id buy as 2 oz last about 1 to 3-5 onths with use.. a si oz or fie oz bottle of sesae oil is liable to go to waste and this is bad. I am still only one person eating een if I hit the motherloade of interest often with what I ook. to me, 2.19 plus tax to not throw it away is a greater alue than perhaps a dark sesame oil that tastes far better but I an not use it all.
not kidding, this is priarily used for raen noodles onsumption I should and now as you soon will see an make dumplings but suh is why Ill always think of this stuff, the sesae zing that akes ramens go from boring to rather tasty.

you don’t have to pull these seacrhes up, but I’d like you to understand exactly what most of us non asian cuisine eating or aculturalized folk endure. what the hell is it where is it jesus whih one to get. what if any difference is there between 3.69 and 1.19 pakages? oh god I have to think in the store not grab and go…shit I’m late!
if any one of you thinks I’m unaware of your lack of desire to live in a grocery store and are impatient and likely angry about it… hahahaha.
on you I am aware and I’m only slightly more interested so as not to succumb to that.
nori
note thedark look of the sheet it typically looks that way unlike the very seaweedy look of it pictured on top. you use this to make sushi rolls. it is loaded with msg although not a one of you realizes that – beause msg is deried from seaweed and is ery natural however,
http://www.upmc.com/patients-visitors/education/nutrition/Pages/maoi-diet-facts.aspx
if you take ertain mediation MAOI’s for bloodpressure aniety or suh not, you have been warned about limiting food intake of the certain weird words , because it’s harder to proess for you. most people would avoid a chinese restaurant because they associate the plae with sering msg, as in a powder dusting their food, when to be honest most don’t make that or any recipe containing msg – naturally or otherwise present. 0 but mistakenly assume sushi is healthy and it can be duh, – and hae no issue whateer onsuming doritos whih makes seaweed look wimpy in the amounts of msg present. go figure. most of you are idiots. however, so am I, so lets laugh and just try not to poison ourselves, but you deserve to know something about food and what you’ve heard to be careful of
nori is about 1-2 buck or ~15 cents a sheet which is six to eight pieces sushi which costs from a store 5-8 bucks per said order, the rice is special too but we’ll get to that in a minute yet rie too is 50 maybe, and the vegetables and expensive toppings are about 2 bucks yada sushi costs 2.5 in many cases and sells for 3 times what it costs to make. sushi is tasty. and even for a inventie soul possible in minors bulk as a treat to make even if you hae a limited budget. a 3.69 pak of 25 sheets of premium brand nori sheets… whih incidently are made preisely like orn flakes are the Japs seaweed, Us Corn mash… is? $13-`4 ents at worst for of nori and thus is heaper than buying what you need only. you should pith in for some bulk the pennies ount but not too muh.

this is seasoned rice wine vinegar. what’s the seasoning? sugar. what’s the point of spending 2.39 for this when I an buy a 99 ent bottle of apple cider vinegar or white? I hae ade sushi I therefor know that you ight want to note the taste of rie inegar is loser and ilder as inegar goes to that of the other kinds. there is a deliay to sushi.. there is also propriety and proper. there are times I don’t know shit all about what Im doing so I use what im told and like it1 lol
before I go eploring.
for the record I have a pile of people who hate vinegar. I can make sushi glazed rice with lemon juice and sugar. I have even made sushi use rice from lemon juice and sugar from minute rice in a box – I reccomend you stop trying to think you hate eerything when it upfront needs a minor modifiation…however, minute rice is unlikely to oe out but 2 times in 10.. use the sushi rice eh?

wusabi
okay, WASABI it’s fuking lightening hot green horseradish. its part of all preparations sushi whether you use it or not w-e buks a tube making the stuff fro a powder is a royal bitch. I suggest and onsume the stuff ia tubes.
a peas sized amount will ake you ry for about 5-10 minutes…a dab will do.

anned roasted eel in soy saue is… termed unagi likely inappropriately. I like unagi and eel. I think this with some ery thready sin arrt risp rolls up niely with onion to make maki- maki is the term for roll sushi and is of ourse far “heaper than theother kinds
which is far more artful but also epensie. I get canned unagi because I live 1000 miles fro anylarge salt water body of water. I therefore a making a preserved food item in the style of something blah blah blah, its tasty stuff and I have to store my food some. it’s 2 buks a tin and a tin makes the huge fat maki.

I hose not to get any sushi ginger as its sweetened with nutrasweet Imaoviding nutrasweet, and ore iportantlyly no one in the house likes it so itd go bad before I got to it all.
-
black sesame seed s and there cousin white sesame seeds round out what I have for sushi.
the above is enough to have on hand much of all I need to make sushi – I could stand to get medium rice again cal-rose is a brand its better for sushi. I own a mat for rolling it. I already hae soy saue tunafish and prdue.

expect to make spiy tuna rolls, which are
you put the nori on the inside. what does nori taste like- close to steamed spinach….the runa is the tuna salad you always make – oops you take out half the mayo add in it’s place soy sauce and hot sauce – the spicier you want your tuna the less soy the more hot. do not make soupy tuna. the rice on the outside is dusted with pretty blak sesame seed some this is the closest picture to what I expect to make.
this piture may ut out some but this is a unagi roll, a catepillar roll is another option
I can eat the hell out of some sushi.
I have made versions of the above two and just got done watching how to make the third. it’s possible… barely lol, but it’s possible. basically it’s about how they make it pretty and it really isn’t but a ompletely different way alien to the way we deal with food….and done so with precision.. but within what i can manage, I would like some pretty food I can afford.
the next batch of stuff is less well stoked for make it all in ago but.
bun tom nuong. noodle dish with grilled shrimp. Vietnamese
I hae the noodles around for this
which look like/
yes, I bought thicker nice noodles not the thin ones sinner me.
you can wrap up the die in a rie paper wrapper and have? a spring roll!
there are things called pepper hashe that are part of whats seared along with the noodles and topping. this an onsidst of many fresh things like bean sprouts and suh - although it’s different oleslaw iskinda the idea…a fresh bit of salad with the noodle and the toppings. ietnamese reuires more inestigation… I know shit all about it, howeer, I an onsider it as now it’s “just a few things at the store to make.
raune rah moo knee
yes when the marble stopper drops, you get a funny fae . I didnt get plum raune but lyhee, my faorite kind. lychees look like?
which I have never seen in my life like the above picture. but I like them none the same they’re not like our fruits there is a very strong smell to their perfume as in a n almost nail polishy smell.. well it is nail polishy shh try them anyways and shut up.
I like my mini sodas as I can have said.
non-carbonation of same said lychee to try something new.
and
chysanthemum drink. yes, you heard me flower drink.
please note all throughout this blog I have had to get you pictures of what is but only close to what I have, not every brand is what I got, although some are, the house spice, and the three ladies stuff is precicely what I got… I just can work with what pictures I have
this blog took two hours to assemble… they always take that long with specific pictures – but without them, you readers aren’t as excited or curious. hence
I bother.

MY TEA ON!
persimmon tea by roland, it’s a cute little loose leaf tin.
twining lapsang su chong- my hu kwa supply is gone so yayayayayayayay I found this for those of you who don’t read me or remember, I adore twining’s irish breakfast tea as my version of the best tea ever for iced tea. I’ve had the real Irishman’s brand barry’s gold tea also an assam but interestingly far more bitter, but enough of tealand, the tea above is half the punch and price of hukwa but tastes good none the same I’m thrilled to have it as it’s not the first experience I had which was a tea so strong I nearly lost every person who tried it to distaste…this is a pleasant if weird smokey tea.
now, this is what I meant by a delightful outting, this was just one place the others were
yes, black velvet toasted caramel for the older roommate who pays and was ready to leave disgruntle this weekend and I’d like to keep my paying tennants thanks..
colt 45 so I could have one

hopefully she’ll share.

Ha, you up and edited while I was commenting! I’ve considered before creating a post and then rewriting it after everyone comments so their comments look really silly.
I particularly enjoyed this snippet from your first draft:
I ame home and the biyle fell on e wanh? this is anything but passionateeepting the ussing about the bike biting
Fascinating stuff.
Not a sushi eater myself, but I enjoy the occasional seaweed snack from Taiwan (my ex-sister-in-law lives there and brings stuff). The tinned eel looks good, too.
@Roadkill_Spatula - lol, I wasn’t DONE yet, I wasn’t even aware lol it had posted
lol
lol xanga is queer to me sometimes
but yeah, so is seeing what I ACTUALLY typed not what I meant.
yes, there it is, a slightly more orret blog up here now. – pictures, words normal lot use ::)
I may have to make myself some Christmas sushi this year
@godfatherofgreenbay - I’d like you to try the spicy tuna ones, but in your spicific land – why not try the adjusted for ingredients … nori sushi style rice butunlike my aim of rice vinegar use some apple cider vinegar with brown sugar… if you can stand it, brown rice thus jazzed up goes with some tuna.
you can avoid the expense of soy sauce and get some packets you can save asside from chinese night…yes yes supposedly japanese soy and chinese soy are wildly different oh sin… but you need like 2 packets worth why waste money? one packone can drained tuna, miracle whip if you must I prefer mayonaise, and a few liberal dashes of hot sauce.. this is 2.5 sandwiches worth of tuna salad sandwich but with half the miracle whip / spicy stuff, is 1.5 – mat, nori, rice leaving a centimeter edge so it will roll closed, plastic wrap flip over so nori is showing thumbs worth of down the center tuna, if you like it purple onion and a strip of thin celery,, roll up dusting with toasted white and some black sesame seeds , slice and consume. this way you can be the HERO of healthy christmas as others pig out and you eat healthy sushi and make all the gals wet with food desire.
Sushi is fun, both the making and the eating.
If you really want to get your tea on, check out Seven Cups Tea House. Those folks know their tea! I’m fond of their Yin Gou Mei as my regular cup. I’m out just now… gonna stay that way for a while because I love that tea too much and end up screwing my circadian rhythm up.
@HappierHeathen - I swear that name is familiar… ther was a place similarly named in semi-hipsterville in town before…they were cool took mommy as I couldn’t get a date out to it and mm was it good
*not despairing about the date part, I have a rich family life as I spent so much with family
- you brighten my day mr health by plants… NOT POWDERS not oils PLANTS.
Yum…all but that eel…hahah! Love sushi, but not eel.
took my granddaughter and son out for sushi the other night after her performance..I have pink lady, california roll and something alligator whcih was expecially yummy. Joshua had spicey tuna. Miss T and I passed…my appreciation of sushi grows with each tasting, I must admit, although it is a long way from my food of choice…I think making it might be fun.
@moniet - tell me how you Feel
@SandraErickson - :) hopefully you get a chuckle out of this, sushi bewilders me. often it is past beautiful into the whats that/ food isnt the thought that comes to mind first
however, the few extremely apparently basic things I discovered were tasty. I didn’t like it til I had a clue of what to expect. thus I’d try some of them but get wierded out if there was no hope I could make it. I guess it’s lucky for me I’m confident enough to make a few things
I recently moved cities and had to find places to buy this stuff all over again. Luckily, so far I’ve located a Chinese, a Korean, and an Indian grocery.
@Six_Days_Divided_by_Blondville - I had a ball considering a relocation- especially my spies and odd duck ingredients… I love how y niche is online – but 2x plus shipping. thus woo hoo it can be swiftly found in town. across the world.
